Remember how we told you about ‘lil Miss A’s Imaginary Friend Charlie and the baby? Well, there’s a new girl in town (as apparently Charlie was a girl).
Meet Shirley (that’s her picture right up there, don’t you know?). She is ‘lil Miss A’s new bestie (or maybe a grown version of the baby?). Shirley has to go to bed with A, sit on the couch, do anything that A does. Shirley is definitely part of our lives.
It makes you wonder…how do kids come up with imaginary friends? Apparently, our brains are wired to have them…it’s considered “social surrogacy”, check it out over here.
Before there was ‘Lil Man to serve as her best friend, A had some imaginary friends, including one named Charlie. It seems that something with an imaginary friend turned into a ‘lil something more . . .an imaginary baby.

Before there was Unca Ja to serve as her best friend, Mrs. Burgher had some imaginary friends, including one named Prince Phillip (of Sleeping Beauty fame). It seems that something with an imaginary friend turned into a ‘Lil something more . . .an imaginary baby.
One day, after using the potty, A jumped off and let Daddy wash her hands. When he was done, he closed the toilet seat lid. A promptly freaked out and said, “Daddy! The baby was on the potty!”. A few days later, Mama pulled the bathroom door shut and A freaked out and said, “Mama! The baby! You shut the baby in the door!”
One day, after lining up several chairs at the table, Mrs. Burgher settled in her seat for dinner. Pappy Burgher went to take his usual seat, and Mrs. Burgher promptly freaked out. “Daddy! You sat on the baby! The baby was in that chair!”
Like Mama, like daughter.
Thank goodness for our first, imaginary friends and the memories!
