End of an Era

Every year, this weekend, my family and I would head up to Bobcaygeon, Ontario for a week (or two or three) on Sturgeon Lake. Cottage country in Canada is really God’s Country. So peaceful and amazing. We would spend our mornings fishing and afternoons swimming. Dinner was grilled and dessert was local ice cream from the Dairy. We’d finish up with another fishing trip, perhaps a campfire, then cards until the wee hours of the morning.

Many memories were made up there. . . that’s what happens when you spend 15 (or was it 16?) years vacationing at one place! Sadly, this summer, we will not be returning to the cottage for many reasons. I know it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thankfully, the friendships and memories made will always be part of our lives. Though this summer we will not be vacationing in Bobcaygeon, we will continue to vacation as a family. It may not be the same place, same time, or same feelings, but it is still important to us and I am glad we have that opportunity. I am looking forward to fresh memories with my parents, brother, husband, and kids. It will be refreshing, but bittersweet.
